SMU

Who We Are

Every year thousands of students pass through the campus of SMU. It is for this reason that our campus is the most strategic mission field opportunity. Athletes United focuses on equipping, enabling, empowering, and encouraging student athletes and coaches to impact and influence their campus for Christ.

Co-Founder

Wayne Dickens

Wayne began ministry in 2006 with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His faith in Christ began when he received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an FCA College Retreat in 2004. His wife Stacey has been working alongside him in ministry since 2012.

Stacey has been serving in ministry alongside her husband since 2012. Like her husband, she also came to faith in Christ at the same FCA College Retreat. They have three children—a girl, Naomi, and two boys, Cannon and Duke.

As Assistant Campus Director of Athletes United, Stacey oversees ministry specifically catered to female athletes, female coaches and coaches’ wives.

Team Bible Studies

Through team bible studies, athletes and coaches cultivate a sense of purpose and strength that transcends athletics. We offer coaches, athlete, and coaches’ wives studies. For more information on current team studies, or to start a new team study, email us at info@athletesunited.org.

Mustang Legacy Dinner

The Mustang Legacy Dinner is the annual fundraising banquet for Athletes United, celebrating the incredible ways God has moved through SMU athletics. This inspiring evening brings together coaches, athletes, and supporters to build a lasting legacy at SMU. Join our community for a powerful opportunity to make an impact. Your support at this event helps us reach our financial goals, enabling us to continue our mission on campus.

Adopt An Athlete

Adopt-An-Athlete (AAA) is a program created to connect student-athletes with the local SMU community. AAA will not only help in these students’ personal discipleship growth, but it will also give the SMU community an opportunity to develop lifelong relationships with the current generation of SMU Mustangs.
